Chapter 5 - North Puget & Possession Sounds and Saratoga Passage
Mainland ports of call like Edmonds and Everett offer not only full service marinas, but they also boast attractions and activities uniquely their own. Edmonds’ waterfront parks, fishing pier, and underwater park for divers are notable while Everett’s Jetty Island, pedestrian esplanade and Farmers Market are worth checking out. On the west side of the Sound, across from Edmonds, the Port of Kingston Marina is also centrally located with easy access to local services and attractions. A park at the head of the visitors dock makes the perfect place for a picnic or to enjoy annual free "Concerts On The Cove" held here each summer. Whidbey Island, mid-way between Seattle and the San Juan Islands, has some unique ports, as well. Oak Harbor is a great stop. From here, boaters can explore both ends of the Island via a free bus that stops at the Oak Harbor Marina. Langley is also a nice get away for boaters with lots of fun things to do in the area- ride horses, scuba dive, hike, bike or try your hand at blowing glass.
